I use Google Calendar on a Windows computer (someday I d like to use Ubuntu on Linux), and noticed the text and event colors on my mobile phone were different than on my laptop screen. In one case, when I entered a specific purple-ish hex code on the computer, the event was green-ish on my Moto G Power. In another case, I was able to get the same event color on my computer and my phone, but the text colors were different.

My scant research says Material You changed color schemes on Android phones and upset a lot of people, but I also see conversations here talking about changing code on a phone. Is this only possible through rooting an Android phone?
